This beautiful wine is abysmally deep and tastes as dark as night. Initially dominated by dark fruit, it grows increasingly complex.  It’s powerful too. The warmth from this wine could put a smile on anyone’s face. It actually makes you feel as though you are sitting around the dinner table with your wildly gesticulating Italian family. I love it.  The finish transitions spectacularly from voluptuous to bone dry. It leaves you with a thirst that must be quenched by another sip.

Price: $7.99

(update: I checked the price and it was lower than I remembered. Buy, buy, buy!)

I’ll have to check this one out. My favorite Italian from TJ’s is the Epicuro Aglianico. Also posted some of my other favorite Trader Joe’s Wines here if you are interested.

If you enjoy Amarone you will love this inexpensive truly delightful wine that comes from the same regions! I bought 3 bottles on the wine stewards recommendation and went back for the last case! She called it the “poor mans Amarone” We enjoyed with tenderloin for Christmas dinner.

Trader Joe’s no longer carries this. Does anyone know where in Chicago it can be purchased?
